COVID 19 Nonprofit Fund |
SRWC leaders knew that local nonprofits were going to need our support more than ever if they were going to meet the demand for essential services in south Deschutes County during this difficult time of the coronavirus pandemic. With this in mind, the COVID- 19 Nonprofit Fund was born. Since the beginning of April, the COVID-19 Nonprofit Fund has disbursed $36,000 to agencies serving south Deschutes County.
Who is Receiving Assistance from this Fund?
Together We're Making a Difference
The SRWC was recognized by the Bend Bulletin Editor as a Beacon for “taking it up a notch” when the pandemic hit and supporting the community. In her interview with the Bend Bulletin Editor, Sharri Dempsey, Manager for the La Pine Community Kitchen, shared what the assistance has meant to her nonprofit. “They have saved our kitchen; I’m going to start with that,” said Dempsey. “They have shared with us … their COVID-19 emergency funds they have raised. Without that, we would not have been able to continue serving meals here.”
How Can You Help?
There is still time to join SRWC members, community members, groups, businesses and organizations in this group fundraising effort. The Sunriver-La Pine Rotary, the Sunriver Men's Club, Nolte Properties and First American Title have joined the Sunriver Women’s Club in supporting the COVID-19 Nonprofit Fund.
We will continue to accept contributions and direct funding to our nonprofits as long as the pandemic is negatively impacting them.
